About — Adelaide Audio Institute
Music Mentorship Built for People Who Learn Differently
Adelaide Audio Institute has been mentoring producers, DJs and artists since 2012 — one to one, in a real studio, at whatever pace suits the person in the room.
This business operates on the land of the Kaurna people. We acknowledge and respect the Kaurna people's cultural, spiritual, physical and emotional connection with their land, waters and community.
Our Story
Adelaide Audio Institute was established in 2012. Since then our community has grown, and we have helped many artists, producers, DJs and engineers get somewhere with the music they wanted to make.
Performing at venues and festivals including Womad, Electric Circus and Fat Controller. Establishing themselves as sought-after producers and engineers, earning millions of streams and airplay on stations including Triple J and Fresh 92.7.

We wrote the song, then recorded 40 people singing it
In 2026 we were Platinum Sponsors of Amplifii, Adelaide's only inclusive music festival, held at Hart's Mill in Port Adelaide.
We wrote the Amplifii song specifically for the festival and ran the recording booth on the day. More than 40 participants came through to record vocals, rap and spoken word onto it — most of them making a record for the first time.
We are passionate about helping people of all backgrounds and abilities express themselves through music, and we set out to give people the kind of training we wish we had when we were starting out.
How We Mentor
Every Launch Lab follows a deliberate plan — eight weeks, a defined set of skills, and a finished project at the end of it. What changes is the weighting. Your mentor leans the sessions toward the genre you actually make, the strengths you already have, and the areas you most want to develop.
One to one, always
Every session in every Launch Lab stream is you and your mentor. No class to fall behind in, no group to keep pace with, and nobody else's questions taking your time.
Structure, with room to move
There is a real plan behind every Lab, and a Launch Lab Project you finish. Within that structure the sessions bend toward your genre and your goals, so you always know why you are learning what you are learning.
Mentors, not lecturers
Everyone who mentors here is an active professional — still performing, still producing, still releasing. You are learning how the work is actually done, not how it was done a decade ago.

We are passionate about helping people of all backgrounds and abilities express themselves through music. That includes the people who have tried tutorials, courses and classrooms and come away thinking the problem was them. It usually was not.
The Studio
Every session happens here, in Adelaide, on the same gear people use to make records — four production suites, a dedicated DJ studio, and acoustically treated rooms.

Whatever stream you are in, this is where your sessions happen — and you are on the gear from the first one, not watching someone else use it.
Who You'll Be Working With

Ben Cosford
Director, Adelaide Audio InstituteBen is AAI's Director and a mentor with 20 years of teaching experience. As a working musician, actor and creative coach he brings a rare combination of technical depth and genuine human understanding to every session.
He has run music groups for young adults with Down syndrome and for people living with mental illness in a day centre, and has worked with autistic participants throughout his career. That experience shapes how sessions run here — starting from what someone is actually interested in, moving at their pace, and treating a difficult day as a reason to adapt the session to whatever is most helpful in that moment.
Every mentor here is an active professional — still performing, still producing, still releasing. We match each person to the mentor whose skills and manner suit them, not whoever happens to be free.

Where to Start
Most people come to us through Launch Lab — eight weeks of one-to-one mentorship in one of three streams. If you are not sure which fits, that is exactly what the Creative Clarity Call is for.

Come and See If It's Right for You
The Creative Clarity Call is a conversation, not a sales pitch. We work out what you want to make, where you are starting from, and whether we are the right people to help you get there. If we are not, we will say so.
